YAY OR NAY WEDNESDAY

Bridget_1Wednesday at Shiny Media is Yay or Nay day, so we here at Trashionista have decided to join in on the fun. Each Wednesday we will pick a classic piece of chick lit and let you make the decision. Do you love it or hate it? And tell us why!

This week we've chosen one of the original and most-read chick lit novels in existence, Helen Fielding's "Bridget Jones's Diary". Yay or Nay, and why?

YAY, it's a must-read. Although I would say it gets a little boring. The movie is far better.

A yay for me too, but I don't think it stands up to re-reading. It was totally of its time. (Unless everyone but me is still buying scratch cards ..)

I do think it's a classic, though, and not just a chick lit classic - a modern fiction classic. No, really.

It's a yay from me, of course. You can't beat a bit of Bridget! I think everyone sees a little bit of themselves in her, and Helen Fielding writes like it takes absolutely no effort.

Definitely a yay. It's a classic, and the easy style belies a good old-fashioned plot beneath. V.v.v.vg.

Yay from me too - Bridget succeeding in making normal women feel, well normal. She really changed the face of women's fiction.

Yay! Funny and cleverly written. I probably spoiled it a little by watching the film first though...
