YAY OR NAY WEDNESDAY

Bergdorfb Last week's Yay or Nay Wednesday saw a theme of Nay. Not even the fact that Hollywood seems to have given it the thumbs up could secure it a yay.

This week we turn our attention to Plum Syke's debut novel 'Bergdorf Blondes'. Was this tale of the social elite from one of fashion's leading ladies right up your street, or did she drop just one too many designer names in for your tastes? You know the drill, Yay or Nay, and Why?

Don't forget to check out our other Yay or Nays at Shoewawa, The Bag Lady, CatwalkQueen and Bridalwave.

    YAY!

    Fantastic.

  • YAY! Sykes&#39s book is major and beyond. I read it 6 times and still find it juicy. Should be the repetoire of chick lits.

Yay, I thought this book was very enjoyable. I loved the descriptions she used for her characters and found that the designer name dropping did not detract from the story but further emphasized how the main character related to the world of high society. A thoroughly wonderful read!

We don&#39t need to take ourselves seriosly ALL the time.

While I haven&#39t read this one, you did bring up a valid point. "Dropping designer names" seems to be the norm in a lot of chick lit books and it is even hitting the young adult books (like Gossip Girl). Personally, I tend to ignore this name-dropping tendency and try to enjoy the actual storyline, but some readers may like it.
