YAY OR NAY WEDNESDAY

Undomesticated Apologies for the absence of Yay or Nay last week... unfortunately my inconsiderate university decided to schedule my last Final for Wednesday. However, that's all over, and everything is back to normal this week. we last asked you what you thought about 'Bergdorf Blondes' and you unanimously gave it the thumbs up.

This week we want to know what you think about Sophie Kinsella's "The Undomesticated Goddess". Did you enjoy this, or find yourself wishing that she'd given the time to writing another installment in the "Shopaholic" series? You know the drill; Yay or Nay, and Why?

[It's Yay or Nay across the Shiny blogs today, so don't forget to vote at Bridalwave, Shiny Shiny, Catwalk Queen, The Bag Lady and Shoewawa, too!]

YAY OR NAY WEDNESDAY - Comments

  • I finally read this on Saturday. I didn&#39t realise how much I was enjoying it until the train pulled into Marylebone and I realised I&#39d been reading for two and a half hours straight and all but finished the book.

I agree with others who&#39ve said Sam did seem a bit lacking in common sense, but it helped with the comedy, and that&#39s what Sophie Kinsella does best.

I love that she can still get away with writing proper escapist fluff while all the other chick lit writers are trying to be clever (and almost always failing).

This is perfect beach read material. You don&#39t have to think too hard, and the pages fly by. A big yay!

  • I have to admit - I loved this! However, as with Sophie&#39s other characters, I found that the supposedly brainy heroine came across as thick as a plank. I know that characters like these are much needed for the comedy (and Sophie totally gives us plenty of that!) but it&#39s a thing which irritates me slightly. But I&#39m glad she ventured away from Shopaholic and gave us something new.

Even so, the woman is a genius when it comes to writing a witty page-tuner. So from me - a definite YAY!

Presonally loved this one, and I am glad the author decided to write something different. I hope she continues to do so.

Fantastic author and fantastic book. I really loved the shopaholic series and read most of them. A definite YAY!

  • Yay! I love this one and much prefer it to the Shopaholic series. I think the writing in her non-shopoholic books "Can You Keep A Secret?" and "The Undomestic Goddess" are much better written than the shopoholic series, which I think is often ridiculous. I do not think it is unlikely she would get hired as a maid because she was obviously on the verge of a nervous breakdown after makinga $50 million mistake. If that were me I&#39d probably start having serious delusions, so I think acting as a maid is pretty tame.
