Reading Angel

Angel_3As you know, I'm only just starting to catch up with Buffy and now there's Angel too. I've reached the point in my Buffy-watching (season 4) when I apparently need to start alternating episodes with the first season of Angel and who's got the time? Honestly, all this great TV to catch up on. I need to cut down on sleeping or something (cos I can't cut down on reading, of course!).

Anyway, there are, of course, reams of Angel books. Five Seasons of Angel features essays by Jennifer Crusie and Sherrilyn Kenyon. The unofficial guides include Once Bitten and Reading Angel and the official guide is The Angel Casefiles.

Carry on over the cut for more Angel.

There's Angel fiction too, written by Jeff Mariotte, who has also written a Charmed book, Mirror Image. There's even an Angel graphic novel: Angel Spotlight.

Reading Angel - Comments

im from scotland i think that angel is the best i just want to know where i can get the whole angel series on dvd any hints would be nice!!!!!

  • Oh I&#39ve heard of that, Ms Mac! On too late for me though (for shame)- maybe I&#39ll watch it on DVD if it&#39s good. At the moment I&#39m watching West Wing (shh!) x

  • I love Angel. Love, love, love him. Not Spike. not at all. I&#39m sure that wasn&#39t the point of your post though.

Anyway, I am engrossed right now in an HBO thing called Entourage which was recommended by a friend from the USA (God, I&#39m so cosmopolitan!) and is the story of an actor who is making it big in Hollywood and his three hangers on (his manager (actually has top billing), his brother, his driver/gofer) who he grew up with in Queens. I am sneakily watching episodes before Mr Mac gets home and then pretending not to have watched them so we can watch it together. Mr Stainton might like it too.

ps. The name Stainton is all over Australian press at the moment. The Crocodile Hunter&#39s manager&#39s name is Bob Stainton. I dont suppose he&#39s a long lost cousin or anything stupid like that.

  • That&#39s not a huge spoiler, but sorry if I forgot that not everyone has already seen it all years ago. You start seeing signs of the possible changes from day one, and it&#39s not like it&#39s a plot twist, just a gradual evolution. From episode to episode, you hardly notice, and then at the en you look back and realize how much changed. It&#39s definitely worth watching for, a beautiful combination of writing and acting that makes it work, and after you see it all, if you go back and watch season 3 of Buffy, you can actually see the seeds of everything that happened already there. Let&#39s just say that there&#39s a lot more to our nerdy Watcher than meets the eye ... In my opinion, he&#39s one of the best things about the series Angel, and now I really need to get those DVDs (I have the whole series on tape from when it was on, but DVD would be nice).

  • Hey, Shanna! Spoiler alert please. I did not know that about Wesley. I also didn&#39t know he was Alexis Denisof (though I have been meaning to look that up). So Alison Hannigan&#39s a lucky girl then?

I&#39m also fairly sure I&#39ve read that novel you&#39re talking about, but I can&#39t think of it at the moment. I&#39ll check my bookshelves - actually, I&#39ll check with my chick lit group! - and let you know.
