Sophie Kinsella's sister

Yesterday I stumbled upon a blog on which someone was wondering why Sophie Kinsella has written a new book under the name Madeleine Wickham. As all of us Trashionistas know, Madeleine Wickham is Kinsella's real name and it was under that name that she wrote first.

So I could leave a snotty comment to that effect, I checked on Wikipedia - I don't want to leave a snotty comment and be *wrong* now, do I?! - and discovered that Sophie Kinsella has a sister, Gemma Townley, who is also an author. Did anyone already know that?

Townley's books include When in Rome...: A Novel of Piazzas And Passion, Little White Lies: A Novel of Love And Good Intentions, Learning Curves: A Novel of Sex, Suits, And Business Affairs, and The Hopeless Romantic's Handbook.

I *love* the titles and will be checking the books out forthwith!

If anybody out there knows of other authors similar to Sophie&#39s style then please post.

i&#39ve already read some gemma townley&#39s books and they are just as cute and funny and awesome as Sophie&#39s. i read a whole book of hers in one day, i couldn&#39t put it down!! Very worth looking into

There may be contractual issues associated with the Kinsella name (like it being restricted to one publisher, or since the Wickham books were contracted under that name, they can&#39t go and stick a new name on them), but as I recall (a friend has my copy of one of the Wickham books, so I can&#39t verify what they&#39re doing with the US editions), the reissues state pretty clearly on the cover the connection with Sophie Kinsella. The book may not be able to be published with Kinsella listed as the author, but the connection is made, and they are reissuing those books with the mention that it&#39s the same author from the bestselling Shopaholic books very visible on the front cover.

I think she changed it for Shopaholic because the Wickham books are more women&#39s fiction than chick lit.

I&#39m surprised all the Wickhams haven&#39t yet been reissued as Kinsellas though (i.e. to cash in).
