Do you like collaborations?

Missfortunes_2I want to read The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes by Jenny Crusie, Eileen Dyer and Anne Stuart, I really do – supernatural chick lit’s my favourite - but I’m wary of collaborations. I tried Come Again by Josie Lloyd and Emlyn Rees but didn’t get past the first chapter and the last James Patterson collaboration I read was the worst thriller I’ve ever read (I can’t remember the name – it was so bad I threw it away). I didn’t even finish the Crusie/Bob Mayer collaboration Don’t Look Down – the characters just didn’t have their usual Crusieness.

I know Keris loved The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes so I’ll put my wariness aside and give it a go. If nothing else it will be a pleasure to look at – that’s one beautiful cover!

What do you think of collaborations?

I am with you, I dislike collaborations. I have read several and just haven't found any to be outstanding.

I'm wary of collaborations too, but since Jennifer Crusie is one of my favorite authors, I decided to give her collaborations a chance. Don't Look Down wasn't the best book I've read, though it wasn't horrible. I think for a first-time collaboration its quite good. I do have to say that The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes and Agnes & the Hitman (Crusie's latest work with Bob Meyer) are fantastic. (I especially love Agnes.) I think collaborations can be fantastic as long as the authors, editors, etc get together and make sure that the book isn't just thrown together.

Oh Holly, you've read Agnes? I'm so envious! I really must get it soon.

Okay, I'll definitely give the Miss Fortunes a go.

Nicola, you won't regret reading Miss Fortunes. :) It really is a fun book.

Keris, I was able to listen to the audio book of Agnes. (A rental from the library.)It was really cool. Soon I'll splurge on the HB version.
