(Long) Longlist for lucrative literary prize
The longlist for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Prize has a whopping 137 books and, as you might guess, is heavy on the lit fic.
A shortlist of ten will be announced in Spring 2008 and the winner will walk off with 100,000 euros. Nice.
Chick lit gets a look-in with Dorothy Koomson's My Best Friends Girl. Also listed are two of my favourites, One Good Turn by Kate Atkinson and The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox by Maggie O'Farrell.

I cried on the first page of Best Friend's Girl and read it all in one go. But I thought DK's next one, Marshmallows for Breakfast, was awful. A real let-down.
