Call to ban Sarah Dessen's Just Listen

Justlisten A Florida School System is preparing to ban Sarah Dessen's Just Listen from its libraries.

The book is about a girl who is assaulted at a party, and finds the strength to speak up about what happened to her. But when the passage describing the attempted rape was read out at a school board meeting, chairwoman Jennifer Faliero described the book as "repulsive".

You can email your thoughts on the subject to the school board via this link.

It's only a book and teach'e a valuable lesson so instead of trying to ban it maybe try to actually read it.

i think who ever wants/wanted to ban this book needs to wake up to the fact that these things go on everywhere. just because they dont want their kids to know about it does not mean that people shouldnt get the chance to form their own opinions. so let the book alone.

This book is about a girl who needs to tell her story and help people who have gone through this sort of thing get over it, so I think this book should stay on the shelves and as the book says "Just listen".

i think they should leave this book in schools because it teaches kids not to do that when they are that young and if u do then u have to deal with alot like people being healthy then the worst part is telling your parents. but it also teaches you why u should be careful and not party and let a guy take over

  • I think they chould keep allowing this book in the schools&#39 libraries because when i read this book, it told me that you shouldnt be ashamed of the past and its not your fault for being assaulted. I was sexually assaulted when i was 12 and i kept it held inside of me just as Annabelle Greene had done. But when i read this book, it helped nudge me in the right direction of telling people and knowing they would listen. What if on of the student at these schools have been assaulted and havent spoken up? I feel that this book is important for young girls to read. It inspires and helps girls who need to talk about these things that have happened.
