BOOK COVER: The Bright Side of Disaster

I love the sound of Katherine Center's debut, The Bright Side of Disaster, but I'm more interested in what you think about these covers.

The cover on the left is the UK cover. In the middle, we have the US hardback. And on the right, the US paperback. Carry on over the cut to vote for your favourite.

BOOK COVER: The Bright Side of Disaster - Comments

I read the book and loved it! Based on the covers, I&#39m voting for the hardback US version. The book I have is that cover and it looks so much better in real life - the internet pics do it no justice!

Way to go, Katherine, and can&#39t wait for another book!

  • A-ha! You see, I didn&#39t just want to say "The UK cover is rubbish" again. But, obviously, it is.

I too found it hard to choose between the two US covers, but I plumped for the plate.

Thanks for dropping by, Katherine. I&#39m really looking forward to reading it.

  • What a great poll! I am the author of The Bright Side of Disaster, and I&#39m completely stumped. I love the duckie--that retro aqua color, the font, the simplicity and boldness and brightness of it. But I also love the U.S. paperback. The image relates really well to the story. I think the colors of it look better on the actual book--warmer and more inviting. Brighter. I love them both and feel so grateful to have two such awesome covers for my book.

Thanks for posting about Bright Side!!

The cover with the plate and the mess may be more on-point (personally, I don&#39t think the UK cover is a contender), however the colors and shapes of the US duckie hardcover grab attention and hold it long enough to read the title, which is the hook. I find the plate cover to be too dull in color-tone and shapes to draw attention, thus gaining notice for the title.

  • Oh, the US paperback -- the one with the plate -- is best by MILES! The UK cartoon just looks so generic and tired and obvious. And the US hardback looks like a kids book!
