Headless chicklitters*

Bookslut and Gawker have only just noticed that a lot of chick lit books feature headless women.

I was in a train station yesterday (I'd been on the train, I wasn't just loitering) and noticed a couple of similar, headless, covers for women's fiction.

Are these children on these covers? That disturbs me slightly, I must admit.

* I made myself laugh when I thought of this.

I&#39ve found a lot of books tend to have headless people when they do decide to feature a picture of a person on the cover. Megan McCafferty blogged about it after reading an article that claimed it was a sexist move. I think it just preserves the imaginative quality of the cover: leaves the face of the character to your own thoughts.
