The Tenderness of Wolves by Stef Penney has been in my to be read pile for such a long time now that I've (almost) forgotten about it. The debut novel has, however, just won the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award (for some reason I didn't expect it to be a crime novel), beating off competition from Alexander McCall Smith, Peter Robinson and Mark Billingham.
