The Luxe in London

I'd heard great things about Anna Godbersen's The Luxe and I was excited to read it. I started it last week and it started brilliantly, but then I'm afraid I got bored. (I was so disappointed.)

Still, I do love the fact that to promote the book, Penguin Books sent 17-year old competition winner Faye Edwards off around London in a replica of the incredible pink dress from the book’s cover. Plus the dress will be on exhibition in the Foyles department of Selfridges from 14th-27th July. [via The Penguin Blog]

The books were amazing! I read them all so quickly. I didn't want to put them down at all! I found that Anna's writing is very descriptive and paints a brilliant picture of what life would have been in the late 18th century and early 19th century for the high class people with money. The writing is great, the characters are very vivid and the dresses on the front of the books are awesome!! I LOVE 'The Luxe'!

i also tried to read the first luxe book and got bored when it started to drag on. i later had nothing else to read and picked it up agian. i finished it and i just had to get the next one. i then read this one and enjoyed its scandal and secrets equally as much. i am definatly going to comtinue to read this series of books! plus i love thet covers!

I personally love the books, and I am currently reading the third in the series, "Envy". I find it hard to put down actually :) However, I did find the first a little complicated to understand some parts, but it does unravel and make sense. I think the plot is fabulous actually, the second book especially also has many unexpected twists. A must read I must say.

I also heard that there's the possibility of making the books into a movie. Hope so myself :D

I love the book personally. In the middle it get hard to fallow but if you keep with it, the end makes total sense. I haven&#39t gotten around to reading the other two books, they have been out of our library and the books tend to be expensive for a 16 year old without a job. I look forward to reading them. The only thing that got me was the flashback at the very begining, things dont tend to make sense until your well into the book.

No, I actually hated the book--for me it was a mixture of the storyline and just her writing in general that bothered me.
