BOOK NEWS: New Enid Blyton Books

The_wishing_chairChorion, the company who own the rights to the Enid Blyton characters, are planning twenty new books over the next two years. Not new versions of old Enid Blyton books but brand new stories. They plan to bring back The Famous Five, The Faraway Tree, The Wishing Chair, Malory Towers and The Secret Series. [via BBC]

Chorion has said they would remain true to Blyton's classic storytelling style and values. I hope they do. I think they're taking a big risk because I wasn't impressed with what they did to The Famous Five in the cartoon version (and I know I'm not the only one).

BOOK NEWS: New Enid Blyton Books - Comments

  • Sorry for the delay JJ (I&#39ve been away). No there was no news on who will write them. I&#39ll keep a look out though.

  • JJ

Do we know anything about who will write them?

While I loved Enid Blyton myself when I was growing up, I can&#39t help but wonder why they would put all the time and effort into writing more Blyton stories using her old characters and settings and not try to develop something new but Blyton-esque. If you know what I mean.
