MOVIE NEWS: Harry Potter delay

The movie of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince has had its release date postponed from this November to July next year. Apparently this is to take advantage of next summer's shortage of blockbusters, but fans aren't happy.

According to the LA Times, petitions were circulating, rumors were flying and angry screeds were being posted on Internet sites within minutes of the Thursday announcement.

As most Harry Potter fans know, there is a petition at petitionspot to release THBP in Nov 2008.

When I logged off last note, there were 42,775 signatures. When I tried to check on them this morning, all I could see was that they were updating the site and that it would take a couple of hours. Well it has been 4 hours and it is still gone.. We are losing votes for every minute they are down. Please keep checking on this as these are our signatures and our voices. Hopefully it is not something more sinister!

I wonder if on the day of the Half Blood Prince movie release in July 2009 there will be protesters outside theatres protesting and convincing people that were about to buy tickets to turn around, go home, and support us. The purpose being to warn WB to never again delay a movie with a fan base as large as Harry Potter&#39s and causing their profits for HBP to plummet.

If that does happen, I will be there protesting. Hopefully our goal will be met and profit for the HBP film will plummet, hence causing those at WB to deeply regret there decision for the delay. Aw.. vengence is sweet.

Wonder if Queen Elizabeth has signed a petition. This was going to be the safe choice for the Royal Film Performance after the Brick Lane disaster last year.
