Which fictional characters do you wish were real?

I feel we must have addressed this issue before, but I can't seem to find it, so let's just do it again, eh?

Author Carrie Harris has a list on her blog of five book characters she'd like to invite to a party. Which, of course, made me wonder who I'd invite to my own imaginary party...

I'd have to start with Michael 'Mouse' Tolliver from Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City series. Then I think I'd have one of Marian Keyes' female characters, but I'm not sure who without rereading all of her books... I'd quite like Heather Wells from Meg Cabot's Size 12 Is Not Fat series... and then I need a couple of hot men, don't I? Obviously, I'm thinking Mr Darcy, since he's the hottest male character evah, but he might be a bit intense (a bit?), so how about Joe Morelli from Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series and Prince Nicolas from Hester Browne's latest, What the Lady Wants, (he's not actually my type usually, but I fancied him like mad while I was reading the book).

So now, over to you. Which fictional characters would you invite to an imaginary party?

Definitely Leo from Emily Giffin's Love the One You're With. :)

Cannie Shapiro from Good In Bed by Jennifer Weiner and Jo from Little Women spring to mind. Hmm who else? Jane Rizzoli from Tess Gerritsen's novels, Jane Marple and Hercule Poirot (with Hastings of course).

I would also like Harry Potter and Viktor Krum to pop round for tea as my son would LOVE that.

Joe Morelli would be fine and dandy at a party (of just myself and him)...but I'd liven a group up with Grandma, Lula, Connie, and Sally Sweet!

Y'know, I had such a hard time with Mr. Darcy. Ultimately, I decided to leave him off my invite list since it wouldn't be good for the hostess to drool on the table.

Thanks for the link!

The first name that came to me was Anne Shirley. Of course then I'd have to invite Jo March as well. And the entire Casson family from Hilary McKay's books. Alice and most of her mad cohorts from Wonderland, but maybe not the duchess cause she freaks me out. Mia Thermopolis, but not Lily Moscovitz, I prefer Tina Hakim-Baba. I obviously couldn't limit to five!

Obviously we need Witch Baby from Francesca Lia Block, and I for one would love to have a real live Philip Marlow stirring up shit. And damn if it wouldn't be nice to meet Aslan for real, as he's described in the books. Although, come to think of it, it would be kinda awesome to meet Jadis as well, though probably more terrifying than anything.

I'd have to have Dorothy Sayers' Lord Peter Wimsey - the most attractive male figure in all of literature in my not so humble opinion.
Then Sebastian Flyte from Evelyn waugh's Brideshead Revisited (with Aloysius, of course, but imaginary stuffed animals don't count, do they?)
Miss Abigail Wendover from Georgette Heyer's Black Sheep would definitely be fun to have around. Nancy Astley from Sarah Waters' Tipping the Velvet, so as to have a woman to drool over as well.
And I'd love to meet Gustav von Aschenbach from Thomas Mann's Death in Venice - although I'm not sure I would dare to speak in his presence.
Thinking it over, i'm not sure whether these people would make for a good party, but I'd love to have them *daydreaming away*

I'm most likely have either Meg Cabots Lizzie Nicholas from her Queen of the Babble series so we could have a good gossip or i'd have Christian for Paige Toon's Johnny Be Good, but then i might have her first hero Nathan from Lucy in the Sky. I just don't know.

Hi all,

I agree with starsister about Lord Peter, however I need someone from modern times too and that would be Rourke - J.D. Robb- then maybe the Three Just Men - Edgar Wallace. It's my party and I can have the guests be all male - and these are Alpha's if I read them right. Oh what fun!!!
