Grahame-Smith's previous novels include How to Survive a Horror Movie and The Big Book of Porn, so it's safe to assume that his tongue was lodged firmly in his cheek when he wrote this:
'Complete with 20 illustrations in the style of C. E. Brock (the original illustrator of Pride and Prejudice), this insanely funny expanded edition will introduce Jane Austen's classic novel to new legions of fans.'
Of course, references to Jane Austen spinning in her grave would be entirely appropriate here, but thankfully I have too much taste to make them.

I know this sounds snobbish, but to be utterly honest I think this is a disgrace. I'd never buy it. An author riding on the coat-tails of another author in the most abominable way.

I am all about reimagining the classics but this sounds horrible. seriously. horrible.
How could it be possible to use Austen's plays to do this???

I believe Ms. Austen's books are in the public domain so it would be legal to write a book based on her original story. I actually think it sounds kind of funny. Don't know that I'd buy it, but you gotta give the guy props for thinking outside the box....

Um, I know Jane Austen is like the original chick-lit, but the same ol' book can get boring. It's been interpreted in many diff editions, co-opted in other books and shined on the silver screen.
My mom would be horrified. So, bring it on!
