Judging by the success of shows such as X Factor and Britain's Got Talent (I'll admit it - I watch the auditions at the start. Mean, me?), it seems the nation loves the televised talent show. And even better, Anne-Marie O'Connor's new novel, Star Struck, focuses on just that.

Catherine Reilly is 24, single and still lives at home with her dad and two of her sisters.
