NEW RELEASES: Purses and Poison
Purses and Poison, the sequel to Dorothy Howell's Handbags and Homicide, is now available from Little Black Dress (can't wait to read this one!)
Nobody wants to be an accessory to murder... including Haley Randolph. Her ideal murderous encounter is buying a pair of killer heels. But then the ex-girlfriend of her sort-of boyfriend Ty Cameron – the drop-dead gorgeous Claudia Gray – literally drops down dead. Even worse, Haley’s mother is prime suspect: Claudia was poisoned with food from her company. Haley’s heard of death by chocolate, but death by edible fruit bouquet? When the eye of suspicion also falls on Haley, she pursues the murderer (and a divine Judith Leiber evening bag) all over LA to clear the family name. Will she catch the killer? And will her relationship with Ty end up dead in the water?
Order your copy via Amazon, or check out Dorothy Howell's website.

BOOK NEWS: Heaven Can Wait
Trashionista spoke to new author Cally Taylor back in March, and her novel, Heaven Can Wait (previously titled Haunting for Beginners) will be released in October. Not long to go! Here's the info...
'What would I do without you, Lucy Brown?' he said, and kissed me softly. I held his face in my hands and kissed him back. I felt that life just couldn't get any more perfect. And I was right, it wouldn't. By the end of the next day, I'd be dead. Lucy is about to marry the man of her dreams - kind, handsome, funny Dan - when she breaks her neck the night before their wedding. Unable to accept a lifetime's separation from her soulmate, Lucy decides to become a ghost rather than go to heaven and be parted from Dan. But it turns out things aren't quite as easy as that. When Lucy discovers that Limbo is a grotty student-style house in North London she's less than thrilled. Especially after meeting her new flatmates: grumpy, cider-swilling EMO-kid Claire; and Brian, a train-spotter with a Thomas the Tank Engine duvet and a big BO problem. But Lucy has a more major problem on her hands - if she wants to become a ghost and be with Dan she has to complete an almost impossible task. How the hell does a girl like Lucy find a girlfriend for the dorkiest man in England? IT geek Archie's only passions are multi-player computer games and his Grandma. But Lucy only has twenty-one days to find him love. And when she discovers that her so-called friend Anna is determined to make a move on the heart-broken, vulnerable Dan, the pressure is really on...

COMPETITION: Win copies of Rebecca Miller books
Rebecca Miller, author of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (now a movie starring Robin Wright Penn and Winona Ryder), has penned another book, Personal Velocity.
The vibrantly fresh and lustrous stories in Miller's collection explore the multifaceted lives of women in seven arresting portraits. Modern and diverse, these women of different classes and ages struggle with sexuality, fate, motherhood, infidelity, desperation, and an overriding will to survive. We meet Greta, a cookbook editor who is chosen by Tavi, the hottest writer of his generation, to edit his new book. The book becomes a best-seller and Greta is propelled out of her marriage by her own ambition and success. Other characters include Paula, a pregnant twenty-one-year-old, who is on the run from the horror of a man who was hit by a car and died while walking her home from a nightclub; Delia, an abused working-class wife who goes into hiding with her children; and Louisa, a painter who moves rapidly from one lover to the next, acting out a self-perpetuating drama over which she has no control. Edgy, fearless, and beautifully spare, "Personal Velocity" is a superb collection from one of the best writers in contemporary fiction.
Trashionista has five copies of Personal Velocity and The Private Lives of Pippa Lee to give away. To enter the draw, simply answer the following question:
In the movie adaptation, Keanu Reeves plays Chris, a younger man who forms a relationship with Pippa Lee. Name another film where Keanu Reeves gets involved with an older woman.
Competition is open to UK residents only. Send your answers to the editor (elle.symonds [at] gmail [dot] com) with 'Pippa' as the subject. Good luck!
