The nine finalists in the Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2010 have been announced. According to the Waterstones site, the list includes stories about 'dead hamsters, medieval monks and sorcerers' (oh my!) with Sarah Clarke, Waterstones children's book buying manager, stating that: 'Horror and the supernatural often dominate children's fiction but this year we're seeing that balanced with serious, believable stories proving that sometimes real-life drama hits closest to home.'
The list includes Lucy Christopher's Flyaway, The Crowfield Curse by Pat Walsh, and The Seven Sorcerers by Caro King. The full shortlist can be found at the Waterstones website.
The winner will be announced on Wednesday 10th February.
