Picture1.jpgSamantha Carbon is the author of All That Glitters, which was released in July. We asked Samantha about the inspiration behind her new book and her hopes for the future...

Please describe your latest book in 15 words or fewer.

All that Glitters is funny, sad, quirky and loving. You will fall in and out of love with the characters.

What inspired you to write All That Glitters?

A little voice in my head inspired me to write. My emotions, imagination and my urge to create interesting characters motivated me to put pen to paper. A good story needs to be told and All That Glitters is my story.

Where do you do most of your writing?

I started hand writing most of All That Glitters during a three holiday roadtrip. However, when I got to the second draft, I began to allocate Saturday afternoons, tapping away on the laptop when there was nobody around to disturb me.

What is your favourite book?

I'm a huge fan of Victoria Christopher Murray, an African American author, who writes beautifully. All her books have a spiritual theme to them. Her books are uplifting and raise self awareness.

Which part of All That Glitters did you enjoy writing most?

I enjoyed the end of the book. When all three of my main characters are finally built into the heart and soul of the story. I had a few emotional battles with all three during writing All that Glitters, but towards they all found peace.

Who is your favourite heroine?

Other than my mother, Wonder Woman!

What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading the Glasshouse by Jeanette Walls. I find myself sinking into her world. Im only half way through but the message Im getting is gratitude is key. Jeanette Walls has had it rough as a youngster and grew up faster than expected , hats off to her for putting together a warm memoire .

Do you have any tips for readers who would like to become published authors?

Learn to discipline yourself. Allocate time to write 1,000 a day.

Keep believing in yourself and believe in what you write. I found sharing my work with only two close friends, didn't put me under too much pressure. When word got out that I had written and published a book, it was a pleasant surprise, even to my nearest and dearest. I didn't even tell my father and he's very proud of me. An author cant afford to have any distractions. Go with what your heart feels.

Are you working on anything else at the moment, and if so can you tell us?

I'm currently working on an Olympic themed fun, chick lit which hopefully will come out in time for 2012. This will be an interesting read as my other passion is track and field. I hope to give the readers saucy insights to the world of athletics. Where does all that energy go when it's not on the track?

Thanks, Samantha!
