Google eBooks has been launched in the United States with thousands of titles available to download, The Bookseller revealed today.
Sadly for non-US residents, they will have to wait until 2011 for Google eBooks to launch in their country.
The e-books are due to be stored in an online library which will allow them to be read across netbooks, tablets, smartphones and e-book readers, and users will be able to access the books just as they would access their Gmail account.
Readers will be able to buy e-books from independent bookshops as well as the Google e-book store. According to Google, almost 4,000 publishers have signed up to the service.
