MOVIE NEWS: Vampire Academy

vampireacademy2.jpgLike the Vampire Academy series? Then you may be pleased to know that the film rights to the books have been picked up. According to ComingSoon, Preger Entertainment have acquired the rights to the books by Richelle Mead.

Spirit Bound, the fifth book in the bestselling series, has gained a New York Times and USA Today #1 bestselling rank. The series has so far sold over 3.5 million copies in the US and over 1 million internationally, and has been published in 34 countries. Impressive, huh? And because it's so successful, a spin-off series is scheduled for next year.

The Vampire Academy novels have been described as  'coming of age, action-driven paranormal romance', and is set in a hidden world of vampires, 'half-humans', and magic.

Here's the synopsis of book one:

St Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school - hidden away, it's a place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess.
