Hodder has acquired a new chick-lit novel in which the heroine uses Austen's classic books in order to help her find a husband.
According to The Bookseller, the novel by Kim Izzo, titled The Jane Austen Marriage Manual, focuses on magazine beauty editor Kate, who finds herself single unemployed and homeless. She embarks on a freelance article about whether it's possible to marry for money, and uses Jane Austen's novels for assistance. The book is due for release in 2012.
Isobel Akenhead, women's fiction editor, said: "It is brilliantly written, laugh-out-loud funny an has the most unforgettable heroine, and I feel confident it will appeal to fans of chick-lit favourites such as Bridget Jones's Diary and Alexandra Potter's Me and Mr Darcy, not to mention all the 'Janeites' out there."
