BOOK NEWS: Twitter authors signed up by The Friday Project

TheFridayProject.jpgThe Friday Project has announced a new book called Freaks; a collaboration between authors Caroline Smailes, Nik Perring and Darren Craske. The three published authors are also popular tweeters.

Freaks is a collection of short stories written by Caroline and Nik, with comic book-style illustrations from Darren. According to Booktrade, the stories 'each feature a character with an unusual ability such as The Photocopier, a young mum who can duplicate herself at will, or the man who can read the minds of everyone else in the doctor's waiting room.'

Freaks is set to be published in Spring 2012. Scott Pack, publisher of the Friday Project, said: "This is a most unusual book; bizarre stories with amazing illustrations from Darren. We will publish with the look and feel of a manga book because we all think that will be quite fun. It has already won over a number of people in-house and I believe the huge combined online following of the authors will love it as well."

The Friday Project by HarperCollins is a publishing company that specialises in sourcing talent from the web. Titles so far include In Stitches, The Checkout Girl and Almost 5'4.
