NEWS: Jojo Moyes scoops Romantic Novel of the Year Award

Jojo.jpgWinners of this year's RNA Pure Passion Awards were announced yesterday in London, with Jojo Moyes scooping the prize of 2011 Romantic Novel of the Year with her book The Last Letter Fom Your Lover.

According to the official RNA website, Jojo said: "The book came about after I eavesdropped on some women unsuccessfully trying to decipher a text message - Later X. It made me realise that all these added means of communication have actually served to make things more opaque. I feel sorry for the generations that are missing out on the joys of the love letter."

Bestselling authors Josephine Cox and Penny Jordan each picked up an Outstanding Achievement Award for their contributions to romantic fiction.

Elizabeth Chadwick picked up the Historical Novel prize for her book To Defy a King. The Romantic Comedy Prize was scooped by Jill Mansell for her novel Take a Chance on Me, and the Love Story of the Year award went to Mills & Boon author Louise Allen for her tale The Piratical Miss Ravenhurst.

Congratulations to all of the winners! You can find more information about the awards here.
