I'm an absolutely huge fan of Lucy-Anne Holmes's books, and couldn't put her first two, about heroine Sarah Sargeant (50 Ways to Find a Lover and The (Im)Perfect Girlfriend) down. So news of her third offering, Unlike a Virgin, is very exciting indeed.Sadly we'll have to wait until September for this one, but I'm sure it'll be worth it! Unlike a Virgin focuses on the organised Gracie, whose 5-year life plan is quashed when she finds herself dumped and pregnant. Read on for the synopsis...
You know that bit in The X Factor, when the singer tells everyone about the rocky road they travelled to pursue their dream? Well, that's Gracie Flowers' story. Gracie is very focused for a woman of almost 26. Her favourite book is 'The 5-Year Plan: Making the Most of Your Life'. And her five-year plan is going very well. Great job, own flat, long-term boyfriend. Gracie is feeling good. That is, until she is usurped from her big promotion by a handsome, posh idiot, dumped by her boyfriend, then finds out he had the decency to accidentally impregnate her before he left. With her hormones going mental, Gracie finds herself stockpiling ice cream, being sick on her shoes and having inappropriate thoughts about inappropriate men. But, at the same time, a dream she thought she'd buried ten years ago starts to resurface. It reminds Gracie of the girl she used to be and the woman she hoped she'd become - and it stubbornly refuses to go away.
