AUTHOR INTERVIEW: Robyn Carr

RobynCarr.jpgWe were delighted to hear about Hidden Summit, the wonderful new book from romance author Robyn Carr. Robyn has penned a number of books, including The Wedding Party and Midnight Kiss, and the popular Virgin River series. Hidden Summit is the seventeenth novel in this fab series and naturally, we just had to find out more!

Please describe your latest book in 15 words or fewer.

Hidden Summit is a story about two people who have been burned by love and believe they've sworn off - but their hearts have other ideas.

What inspired you to write Hidden Summit?

My agent actually came up with the idea of a character hiding out in Virgin River as a part of a protected witness program and the story evolved from there. Virgin River novels always contain an important element of women's fiction, so in this case the heroine, who is recovering from a painful divorce, give the story that direction.

Hidden summit.JPGWhere do you do most of your writing?

I have an office in my home and almost all my writing happens there.

What is your favorite book?

It's simply impossible to name one - every time I start a new story, I fall in love. Right now I'm writing about Patrick Riordan, the star of next year's Christmas novel, and I had NO IDEA how sexy, strong and fascinating he was! That's the excitement of writing - discovering these people.

Which part of Hidden Summit was the most enjoyable to write?

I think the love story, by far. Conner and Leslie make such a fun, remarkable couple - watching them fall in love was such fun. A close second was Leslie's hilarious relationship with her clueless ex-husband!

What are you currently reading?

Head Over Heels by Jill Shalvis - wonderful romance!

Who is your favorite heroine?

Of my own? I think it would have to be Mel Sheridan - not only the heroine of the Virgin River series, but an ongoing character and anchor for the series.

Do you have any tips for readers who are looking to become published authors?

Read, read, read; write, write, write. It is a difficult, sometimes frustrating occupation - do not pursue it unless the love of writing calls to you!

Are you working on anything else at the moment and if so, can you tell us?

I'm writing about Patrick Riordan, the youngest of the Riordan brothers. He's a dynamic, sexy, lovable guy and he is drawn to a beautiful young woman. Problem is, this one might be too young, too vulnerable and worst of all, Jack Sheridan's niece! Jack is a very possessive, protective guy and when it comes to his niece, he'd favor a quieter, calmer type of man. His niece, however, leans toward a man who will blow her socks off - like Patrick!

Thanks, Robyn!
